On May 15th, 2025, AAWSG celebrated Mother’s Day in collaboration with Alif Institute. It was a memorable luncheon that led our member, Dr. Rabab Hashem Asbahi, to graciously share her following impression with us.
I would like to thank AAWSG for arranging Mothers’ Day celebration of this year. Mrs. Ghada started the event with a heartwarming welcoming speech, which included some quotes that honor mothers and their role in society. And she, as always, encouraged attendees to support Alif Institute, our only Arab cultural center in the South.
I was happy that the number of attendees was quite high because such celebrations enforce the ties among the group members and enhance the feeling of belonging to a community. The event this year was especially memorable since it took place in the garden of our beloved Alif Institute. That added warmth and joy to the celebration, and gave everyone a chance to get to know one another in a relaxed family like atmosphere.
The highlight of the event was the live music played by the oud teacher, Mr. Suhail Sedran, who played beautiful Arabic songs and whose playing encouraged the ladies to join by singing together along with the music, leading to additional bonding among the ladies and to a thoroughly enjoyable time.
